28 DAYS LATER - TITLE SEQUENCE

A title sequence for 28 Days Later, exploring the psychological disorientation of a post-collapse world. Rather than retelling the narrative, this project focuses on themes of infection, isolation, and loss of humanity in abstract motion and texture.

The sequence uses distorted imagery, experimental analog techniques, and fragmented typography to mirror the experience of waking into a world that no longer feels recognizable.

PROCESS

Because the project relied heavily on experimental techniques, the process intentionally moved away from a rigid storyboard. Instead, the focus shifted toward defining a feeling arc of starting slow and somber, then building toward intensity to reflect the progression of the film.

The majority of the shots compiled in the title sequence are made using watercolor dropped in a fishtank, and watercolor filmed up close with a macro lens.

TYPOGRAPHY

Scanography played a key role in reaching the desired effect of visual texture and functioning as a narrative layer. We also wanted the type to feel embedded in the environment and to shift in legibility to further the eerie feeling, achieved through motion treatments.

EXTENSIONS

To explore how the visual language could live beyond the screen, the title sequence was extended into a series of out-of-home applications. These mockups translate the motion-based system into static formats while maintaining the same sense of tension that the motion piece achieved.
